Cricket News.
The committee of the Feeding Cricket Club met last evening and decided to invite the Mayor and Councillors to assist at the opening match of the season, the date of which will be fixed by Messrs Stewart, Carty, and Haggitt as soon as they consider the ground is in a proper condition to play on. It was also decided to write to the Marton, Palmeraton, and Bulls Clubs to ascertain if Wednesday matches can he arranged. With a view to encouraging the members to practise, the committee will have a "pitch" rolled and prepared immediately in Messrs Gorton and Son's paddock. Nets and material will be Jett at Mr Worsfold's, and, also, at Mr H. Garlick's, so that any two or three members will be afforded every facility to practise. The pitch on the cricket ground, on Mr Leth bridge's property, has been enclosed with a wire netting fence to keep the sheep off", and is being rolled regularly. Although this pitch was in good order last geason, it is ex- ! pecced that an improvement will be shown this season.
