V.'r.LLi:cuT;;x, Sept. 2-i. The Laud Board held a special meeting at Vctouc to chiy to investigate certain allegations about applications put in nt the last laud sale. Messrs Baker Hogg, J. Stevens aud Piraui, M's.H.li, were present. Sixteen witnesses were examined, tho proceedings lasting all day. The conclusiou arrived at was that while there were grave reasons for suspicion as to buna iides of a number of applicants for sections in the Awarua Block ballot ou August 14th, there is not sufficient proof of any intentional breach or evasion of the Laud Act to warrant any further proceedings. — Standard.
