THE MISTAKE OF A M.H.R. MR TANNER, MH.R., spoke eloquently in Parliament recently on Pomahaka oats, school boons, and the prioe of Tea. On the last named subject he said : "It was all very well for Ministers and honorary members to claim before the general public the credit of having reduced the duty on tea 2d per Ib. He questioned whether any family icon 2d better off in consequence of what they did last year." While admitting that Mr Tanner may be an authority on oats and school primers, his Bweepmg assertion regarding Tea is contrary to fact. it is admitted that in the matter of blended teas it was in some cases alleged that no alteration be made in price, but the difference would be given in quality That may or may not have been done, but had Mr Tanner mvesti gated the matter thoroughly he would have found that SURATURA TEA was immediately lowered in price to the public by the anvount of the duty, and the quality of it being so firmly established, no doubt entered anyone's mind but that the reduction in price was a genuine one, and that the quality remains the same. Suratura Tea is guaranteed NOT blended with Indian or China Tea. AVSTRALIAN MUTUAL PROT 1. DENT SOCIETY. New Zealand Branch ; Head Office, Customhouse Quay, I Wellington.
