o (From our own correspondent.; The Bachelors gave a return to the ladies Leap-year Ball last Friday and in spite of the rough weather ib proved a great success. There were about 30 couples present. Dancing was kept up until daylight, The cricketers opened the season on Saturday with a friendly match with Ruahine, a new club. The local team proved too good for the visitors, On Saturday evening a meeting of delegates was held. It was decided to form a Cricket Association including the following clubs : — Apiti, Rangiwahia, Ruahine, Mangaweka and Ohinyaiti. It is to be called the Bush Cricket Associa tion. Mr Stansell was elected Secretary. The election of other officers was deferred until a fuller meeting of delegates be held. The following fixtures were drawn up: — October 24— Apiti v. Mangaweka, at Rangiwahia ; Rangiwahia v. Ohingaiti. November 7 — Apiti v. Rangiwahia ; Ruahine v. Mangaweka. November 21— Apiti v. Ruchine ; Mangaweka v. Ohingaiti. Dec. s—Rangawahia5 — Rangawahia v, Ruahine ; Apiti v. Ohingaiti, Dec. 19— Rangiwahia v. Mangaweka ; Ruahine v. Ohingaiti. The following are the officers of the Rangiwahia Cricket Club :— President — Mr Mitchell; Vice-Presi-dents—Messrs Lay, Moffatt, Bielski and Mcllroy; Captain — Mr W. Stevens; Vice-Captains Messrs Moran and Sfcansell; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr W. T, Stansell ; Committee— Messrs Mitchell, Stevens, Saywell, Moran, O'Dwyer and the secretary, ex officio. Last season closed with 43 members and the balance sheet showed a credit of £3 12s 7d. It was decided to turf two pitches on the recreation ground.
