In the House this afternoon the Premie c announced the slaughter of the innocents, viz., storiking off the Order Paper measures it was intended the | House should not consider this session. Tho principal measures left are:— Tho Land for Settlement Amendment, Government Land Valuation, Eight Hours, Shop Assistants, Usary, Mining, Fair Rent, Electoral, Horowhenua Block, Alcoholic Liquors, Waster and Apprentices, Second Ballot, Government Fire Insurance, and Juvenile Depravity. Reasons were drawn up for disagreeing with the Legislative Council's amendments in The Advance:-! to Settlers Amendment Bill. The Minister for Lauds moved the second reading of the Land for settle meut Amendment Bill, the chief features in which are for the establishment of Workmen's Villages near cities. Limitation of applications to two or one family and examination of applicants hefore the ballot. Every speaker congratulated the Minister on the measure which passed its second reading. An Imprest Supply Bill for £300,000, was put through all its stages. Tho House rose at 12.80.
