AUSTRALIAN J.C. MEETING, (Per Press Association). Sydney, Sept. 17. There was glorious weather again for the races and the attendance fair. There were some falls during the alternoon, but none were serious. Results: ■- Second Hurdles, about 3 miles. Merrigal, list 121 b, 1 ; Yelverton, lOst 21b, 2; John Morley, lOst 61b, 3. Ten started. Tiritea and Chris were scratched. Hotspur, Goldstain, Cornet, Nanjo and Llena fell. Won easily by twenty lengths. Time, 6min lsec. Craven Plate, ono nnle and a quarter. Newhaven (Gardiner) 1 ; Hopscotch (Farrell) 2; Coil iLitchman) 3. Valiant also ran. Betting— 3 to 1 on Newhaven, 5 to 1 against Hopscotch, 10 to 1 Coil Valiant made the pace to the turn, Newbavpn lyiug second. The latter went to the front entering the straight and romped home by four lengths. Time 2tnin !*sccs. Suburban Handicap, 7 furlongs. Glare. Sst 101 b, 1 ; Astronomer, Bst 51b, Rose Noble, 7st 121 b, 3. The horses ran iv a bunch to the straight and after a good finish Glare won by half a length. Time, lrnin. filsecs. Duff Memorial Stakes, 1 mile. Morrocco, 1 ; Sabretache, 2 ; Vigilance, j Adoration, •[■ Le Var was the only other starter. Betting — 3 to 1 against Sabretache, 4 to 1 Adoration, G to 4 on Le Var. Sabretache got the best of the start. Vigilance led till half way down the straight when Morocco came through and won by a good length. The favorite was in the rear throughout the race. Time, lrnin 46.sees. Wycornbo Stakes, one mile and three furlongs. Hopscotch (Farrell) 1 ; Fort (Huxley) 2 ; True Blue (Delaney) 3. These were the only starters Betting — 5 to 2 on True Blue, 4 to 1 against Hopscotch, 8 to 1 Fort. The winner got away with a good lead and was never troubled and won as he liked by ten lengths. Time, 2tnin 22] sees. Sydney Handicap, l.}miles. Response Sst 41b, 1 ; Rcdaoni, 6st 71b, 2 ; Erewhon, 7st 41b, 3. Twelve started. Faoladeen piloted the way to half the distance, whero Response shot out in the centre, and atter a fine finish won by a length, Royal Rose held a good position all the way, but was finally blocked. Time, 2min 38\'secs.
