O LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, Sept. 17. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Hon. Mr Bolt; moved that the prayer of Sir Walter Buller be granted, and that he should be heard at the Bar of the Council on Friday afternoon. The Minister of Education opposed the motion and considerable discussion took place, ultimately the motion being rejected on the voices. The Government Advances to Settler* j Act Amendment Bill passed its final stages. The Minister of Education announced that he would drop the Chatham lalanda | County Constitution Bill until next sea* sion, when he hoped to obtain the wishes of the Chatham Islanders as to their Government. The Tauransra Educational Endowment Reserves Bill and the Bating Act Amendment Bill were read a second time. The Council rose at 3.45 p.m.
