DESECRATION.

The graveyard robber has been at work again in the Feilding Cemetery. A few days ago two graves were visited by this mean thief and many thriving plants and flowers were carefully taken up and removed, while in other casss they were roughly torn out of the ground and thrown over the fences. We would urge on the Cemetery Trustees to make some efforts to discover the desecrators, and ptn a stop to this vile practice which is a disgrace to our boasted civilization. There are few of us, indeed, who have not friends and relations taking their last rest in God's Acre, and the evil is becoming so great as to assume the dimensions of a public question. Not many years ago in Auckland the crime complained of was rife. The authorities took prompt action, with the gratifying result that the ghouls were caught in the act and punished so severely that the practice ceased. The same line of action should be followed here.
