The Otago Murder Case.
o (Per Press Association). Dunedin, Sept. 3. Tbe trial of Carl Matson, charged with tbe murder of Mary Matson, bis wife, in July last at Rainkleburn, was commenced to-day. Mr Haggitt, Crown Prosecutor, opened at length. In all 16 witnesses were examined to-day, but very little that was new elicited. Jas. Bain, rabbiter, said Matson asked the girl Clarke if she would come back if be got rid of the old woman and she replied tbat she would. Thos. Chapman said there was no jok. ing about Mrs Matson when she told him she did not care whether she was drowned or not. The case is expected to conclude tomorrow.
