I O (Per Press Association.) s Wellington, August 26. [ The Banking Committee resumed at 11 u'clock. Considerable discussion ensued on the motion of Mr Hutchison that the liqnidaf«r of the J. <j. \Vi\rd Association beenin- , moned to attend nod produce documents and accounts connected With that Association. The motion was negatived by six voi^s to two. [ Mr Hutchison's motion culling on the I liquidator of the Colonial Bank to pro- , dnce documents relating to the transac tions between the Bank and the Ward Association was ruled out of order haviuj? been previously negatived. i This Day. At the Banking Committee to-day Mr Watson was further examined by Mr R. Seddon. Ho thought legislation should be passed to enable the Government to receive payment on preference shares in time to meet the liability on loans. He stated no vacancies had been created in the Bank of New Zealand for the officials of the Colonial Bank.
