Drowning of Two Children.
J The correspondent of the Wanganui ' Herald, writing from the Upper Waitouira under date August 20, gives the ' following particulars of a sad calamity, * occurring the day previous when the son and daughter, a^td nine and twelve rei spectively, of Mr Jumes Gillespie met i i heir death by drowning in the Waitotara River. They had been up the track some 2. 1 , miles iioui their home with 6tores for their father's camp, and were on their way back when the horse they were riding lost its footing and fell down a steep cliff into tho river, taking the children with it.
