QUEENSLAND v. CANTERBURY.
' Christchubch, August 22. The return match between Queensland and Canterbury wai played to-day at Lancaster Park. There were 2000 •peetatora. The weather wm perfect. The game was won by Canterbury by 18 to 8. Stringer, Prince and King scored tries for the local team, Appelby convert* ing two. For Queensland Brans scored two tries, McCowan converting one. Mr C. Garrard was referee. The game was not bo open at the one on Thursday, and towards the close Canterbury's belt forward (Kerr) was obliged to retire with a badly broken finger. On the same ground Canterbury's tee* , ond fifteen beat a team from the Bank's Peninsula district by 42 points to 3.
On Saturday the Awahnri town boys defeated a team from Taonni by 16pt« to nil. The Rangitikei and Oroua Unions will try conclusions at Marton on Saturday • next. The following team has been selected to represent Oroua :— Full-back, J. Mnnro; three-quarters, Fraser, A. Foster, F. Barlow; five-eight, Scrimgeour; half , McGuire ; wings, W. Barlow, Fitch ; forwards, Liddle, Snow, Shannon, Thompson, Smith, Craig, and O'Dwyer.
