Sheep Stealing Cases

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, This Day. A rather curious case of alleged sheep stealing is now occupying the Supreme Court. Herbert Scott and Hilders Bergberson are charged with stealing 57 sheep from Win. Coombes at Fitzherbert on July 6. Prisoners were tried separately, Scott's evidence being taken first. The circumstances alleged are that the accused who live near Coombe removed a portion of the dividing fence and drove off and slaughtered 70 odd sheep. The carcases were buried and some 50 skins sold to a fellmonger.
