(Per Press Association) Auckland, August 12. During the present week between £8000 and £10,000 has been paid in calls for developing mines. A number of valueless Bank notes in circulation in Melbourne, according to the papers, appear to have reached Auckland. A man charged with passing one was remanded. Napier, August 12. At the half-yearly Hawke's Bay District meeting of Oddfellows, the scheme of old age pensions approved at the conference in Wellington providing for the compulsory contribution for all new members, was unanimously carried. This was the first District Manchester Unity to accept the compulsory clauses.
