Important Legal Decision.

(Per Press Association.! Auckland, August 4. An important decision was delivered to day in the Mount Morgan case, Coromandel. In 1870 a Crown grant was issued without reserving the mineral rights for Kairaumaiti block. Mr Jackson Palmer contended that the grant was subsequent to the Validation Act of 1869, and that therefore tbe Crown grant was no protection to tbe owner of tbe freehold. The Warden delivered a long judgment, and held accordingly, and granted licenses on tbe block for mining purposes.
