Mr Reid and His Cabinet.
(Per ; Press Association.) Sydney, August 3. One of the features of the late financial debate was a bitter attack by Mr McMillan upon the Premier, whose surplus be declared to be a manufactured one, the r«al state uf the public funds being a deficiency of £851,000 upon Mr Reid's two years of administration. The Premier, in replying, gave to the world a little bit of secret political history. Mr McMillan's attacks, he declared, arose out of feeling, engendered in this way : — When he was forming the present Government Mr McMillan was offered the office of Coloßial Treasurer but said that ho would not take it uuless be had the Premiership also. While he (Mr Reid) was doing all the work and ail the fishing, there were two or three aspirants for the Premiership, and Mr McMillan was one of them. He denied the latters charges. Mr McMillan, in his rejoiner, admitted he declined to take a subordinate position in the Government.
