New Zealand Parliament.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, August 4. The House met at 2.30. The Hon. R. J. Seddon laid on the table a return of the Customs revenue for the past month, which, he said, showed a falling off of -9000 as compared with the same month of last year. Mr Seddon moved fche adjournment of the Honse as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr J. E. Fitzgerald. It was the ninth occasion, he said, on which he had been called upon to move a similar motion, and this time he did so as a tribute of respect to one who had done great service to the colony. Captain Russell seconded tbo motion, and referred in eulogistic terms to the integrity, honor, and brilliant services, of the late Mr Fitzgerald. Sir R. Stout also added his nceed of praise, and expressed the opinion that the late Mr Fitzgerald was the greatest orator they had ever had in New Zealand and that his speeches were never surpassed in any part of the world. The motion was agreed to. The House resumed at 7.30. Mr Flatman resumed the No-Confi-dence debate, speaking strongly in support of the Government policy. Mr Saunders condemned the borrowing of the Government, but could support neither the motion nor the amendement. Mr Earnshaw spoke strongly against the Government policy, and said he would vote against them.
