The Chairman stated that a cable bad been sent to John Murray, Sydney, stating his attendance was required by the Committee. Mr Seddon moved the Committee adjourn, in view of the no-conndence motion before tbe House. He regretted very much that tbe motion bad been brought forward, but the responsibility of blocking tbe business of the country must rest with the Leader of tbe Opposition. Captain Russell's action was entirely unprecedented, especially as tbe financial debate had finished and the finances of the Government had not then been challenged. Mr Hutchison protested against the adjournment and challenged the Premier to quote a precedent lor the adjournment of the Committee under such circumstances. Mr Guinness — It is customary. Mr Hutchison said a departure might be made from the customary course in the case of this Committee. Mr Seddon repeated that the Committee should adjourn in accordance with the custom.
