The Palmerston and Feildiug seuior teams will play their final match on the J Oval on Saturday. The first of theinterprovincial matches of this year's series was played at Wellington yesterday afternoon between Wellington and Southland. The former had the heaviest team of forwards they have ever put in the field, and they proved too strong for the Southlanders, winning by 11 points a (goal and two tries) to nil. The visitors are a quick, active lot and on dry ground would have shown to better advantage. The recent rains had made the turf slippery, but notwithstanding the game was remarkably fast and greatly appreciated by the spectators, of whom some 1500 were present.
