Feiiding Jockey Cmb.

The annual meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club was held in the Denbigh Hotel last evening. Present — Messrs W. A. L. Bailey, E Goodbehere, W. A. Sandilauds, O. Cooper, W. Light, H. L. Sherwill, H. W. Davy, G. Kirton, A. R. Curtis, W. Summers, B. Gosling, W. Hodren W. G. Haybittle, W. Pearson, C H. Burnett, E. Jackman, K Feck, J. Smith, E. F. Blundell. Mr W. A. L. Bailey was voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The report and balance-sheet for the past year were read (a summary of which we have already published) showing a credit balance of £632 11b 5d or a net profit for the year's working of £421 11s. In referring to the report and balance-sheet the chairman said that if they only did half as well next year he thought they should buy the course. It was a very suitable piece of ground for the purposes of Athletic Sports, and even if the races were done away with they should try and buy it, as it was their only opportunity of securing such suitable land so near the town and at such a small cost. Resolved, That the report and balance-sheet be adopted and that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee to purchase the racecourse property at the earliest opportunity. Mr Burnett raised the question of the lunch provided in the booth, and thought it should be very much improved. He moved, That it be a recommendation to the incoming committee that the catering be better looked after, and that the room be given to some person free of cost providing a suitable meal is provided. Seconded by Mr Goodbehere, and carried. Mr Sandilands thought the time had now arrived when they should have their own rules, and moved, " That the incoming committee be authorised to prepare rules for the working of the club. — Carried. The election of officers was then proceeded with, as follows:— President, F. Y. Lethbridge; vice president, 'Wm. L. Bailey ; judge, W. H. Hartgiil ; treasurer, Mr E. b\ Blundell ; clerk of scales, O. Cooper; handicapper, J. E. Henry; starter, E. Wood ; committee : W. A. L. Bailey. W. A. Sandilands, A. R. Curtis, B. Gosling, H. W. Davy, H. L. Sherwill, W. G. Haybittle, W. Light, C. H. Burnett, O. Cooper ; stewards : H. L. Sherwill, W. A. L. Bailey, C. H. Burnett, W. G. Haybittle, J. Saunders, B. Gosling, C. A. J. Levett, W. A. Sandilands, H. W. Davy. • At the conclusion of the ordinary meeting, a special meeting was held to consider the proposal to register the Club nnder the Unclassified Societies Act. It was decided not to deal with the proposal that evening but to further consider it at a meeting to be held on August 11th.
