The Timber Industry.

Mr G. S. Perrin, conservator of forests, Victoria, and also representing the Tasnianian Government, is now in Wellington, having been delegated to the Timber Conference. Mr Perrin ia about to make a tour of inspection of the forests of the Colony, commencing in the South Island immediately. The Premier has arranged that Mr Poets, Inspector of Timber, will accompany Mr Perrin, who will thus be able to see our vast timber resources for himself. The Government are providing him with colored maps of the timber districts. Mr J. Freyberg, timber expert, has supplied him with a list of the mills and manufacturers in the Wellington district, and gome of those he will visit today. Mr Perrin expresses himself extremely gratified with the reception he has met with everywhere, and the courteous attention and assistance the Premier has extended to him. — Times.
