A Horrible Disease.

(Per Mail Steamer) People are starving to death in Italy. In Sardina mothers are feeding their children with the grass that grows by the wayside. The women straw workers of Tuscany are in open revolt. In Lombardy and other northern districts where the people live on an insufficient diet of Indian maize, a horrible disease called pellazia is increasing, and more than 100,000 persons are affected, of which about 3000 die yearly. Most of the victims die maniacs.
