American Politics.

(Per Press Association.) New York, July 10. The platform of the Chicago Convention Committee denounces the treatment to which Debs, President of the Railway Union in Illinois, was subjected. Debs was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in connection with the Pullman car riots. It demands stricter control of railroads and trust pools, to prevent a few absorbing the wealth of the country. The Convention adopted the committee's platform by 628 to 301. Senator Hill's motion approving of the Government was rejected by 207. There is a clear majority for free coinage of silver.
