(Per Press Associaton). Sydney, July 9. The Treasurer delivered his Budget speech to-night. The estimated revenue for the financial year ending June 30th, was L 9,244,000, and the actual receipts L 9.284.000. The estimated expenditure was L 9,063,500, and the actual L 8.950.500. The estimated expenditure is L 9,400,000, leaving a surplus of L 207.300, out of which it is proposed to devote L*"\000 to special grants for municipal bodies. Later. Mr Reid, in the Budget speech, proposed double probate duties to stop certain leakages. The Stamp Doty is estimated to bring in L 130.000. Retrenchment in salaries, stores and contingencies amount to L 280,000. The Government would carty oat the amalgamation of the two Savings Banks, which he hoped would form a Bank from which a note circulation would issue, and the people's money would be lent out to the people. Tbe Government intended to promote a Great Australasian Exhibition at Sydney in 1899, the exhibits at which could after--wards be sent to the Paris exhibition in 1900. This Day. The actual cash surplus of the colony over the expenditure last year was L 333.000.
