Hutchison gave notice to move Man amendment ia the 'motion of the appointment of a Banking Inquiry Com- ' mittee-(l) As to tbe proposed membership of committee, that no member of the Bank of New Zealand Committee of last session shall be a member of the committee. (2) That tbe Standing Orders be suspended, so that when the • committee -is examining witnesses the reporters of the press shall be admitted, bo that tbe reports of the proceeding! < may be published from day to day. Mr G. W. Russell will move an amendment to the: proposal to set up a com* mittee on banking matters, making the Boope of enquiry the circumstances leading to tbe two million guarantee, mat- * teis relating 7to tbe appointment of Mr Watson as president and, Mr H. Mac* kenzie as general manager of tbe Bank - of New Zealand, and the proposed amal* uamation of the Colonial Bank with the Bank of New Zealand. A caucus to day decided that tbe Opposition members proposed on the committee sball refuse to sit, and they will support Mr Bus* pell's amendment. ;
