Wool— The Antwerp sales opened on the 10th inst., with a large attendance of buyers and animated competition. There was practically no change in values howaver. Locally the market remains firm, all parcels to hand finding ready buyers. Crutchinga are eagerly inquired for at late rates. Sheepskins have come forward in large during the week, and elicited excellent competition. The ■teple is now' showing good length, and buyers are disposed to offer a little more money. For butcher's skins we have obtained for early shorn 8s lOd to 4s ; medinm, Ss 6d to 3s 9d. For conntry dry skins the prices ruling are : prime well woolled crossbred, 5Jd to ssd per lb ; good, 4£d to s£d ; fair to medium, &id to 4£d ; inferior and broken, l£d to B£d per lb. Hides continue in good demand. We repeat last week's quotations, viz., prime ■tout ox B£d, medium 3d to 3|d, light and cow 2f d per lb. Wheat — There appears to be a shortage of milling wheat in Otago, and that province will be obliged to draw its requirements from Canterbury. There is likely to be keen demand shortly, and we think prices will be well maintained. Locally we have steady demand for whole fowl wheat at 3s 5d to 3s 7d per bushel, sacks extra, ex store. Oats— There is very little alteration in the markets. Prices continue firm in the South in consequence of the determination of growers to hold, consequently no large lines are changing bands. Local Talnes axe maintained. Good short feed is 3d to 2s B£d, sacks in, ex store. Chaff— A fair inquiry exists at late rates, viz., up to 67s 6d per ton, sacks extra, ex wharf.
