Feilding Quoit Club.

The opening of the above Darned club took place yesterday afternoon. Owing to the kindness of Mr Giepen, local manager of the Colonists' Corporation, a piece ot ground, on which three links or heads had been prepared, was placed at the disposal of the players. Invitations had been sent to the respective Secretaries of the Marton and Fordell Clubs, the former only responing, and owing to the inability of several members to get away only two appeared, long after the time appointed for commencing play. This delay was caused by the above gentlemen, Messrs Carter (sec.) and Nicholl, haying coma to tho rescue of two ladies who met with a mishap on the Makino road. A friendly game was played between the two clubs, Messrs H. H. Knowles and Grand representing the local team, which, after a good tussle, resulted in a victory for the visitors, who scored the odd rub. They were warm in their praise of the ground, and promised to re-visit with a full team and play another match at an early date. The club has now thirty members on the roll, and several more have signified their intention of joiuing. Considering that the majority of the members had not played for many years the play was very fair, although there was one case of a quoit being delivered which came dangerously close to the spectators standing behind.
