A junior championship match wa3 played at Feilding yesterday afternoon between the Pirates (Paloierston) and lied Stars, resulting in a draw after an evenly-contested same, neither side scoring. After the commencement of the first spell the Pirates had a slight advantage for a short time, but the Red Stars kept the visitors ou the defensive for the greater part of the spell, the game being Boruevvbafcslow. The second spell was more open and taster, the play being of a give-and-take nature, but towards the end the visitors made determined efforts to score, and a short time before the conclusion of the game Crichton almost scored, being thrown in touch-in goal by Allan. On two occasions in the second spell, Morris (Red Star) nearly scored, getting away with the ball at his toes, but his opponents had too much pace for him and forced down. On one "occasion he dribbled the ball from his own goal line over his opponents' goal line. Morris played a I splendid game amongst the forwards j and "Jack" Smith played a very safe game at centre three-quarter. The visitors were much heavier than the local team. Mr R. H. Whisker acted as referee. The Unionists aud the Bulls team played a match at Feilding yesterday afternoon, resulting in a draw, the scores being three points each. K. A. Foster scored a try for Feilding. Mr J. Campion acted as referee.
