(Per Press Association.) Auckland, Juue 1. Mr Evett has declared the following weights in connection -with the first day's racing of the North New Zealand Grand National Meeting : — Maiden Steeplechase, 2-]- miles.
Liberator and Donald McKinnon are equal favourites for the double, Grand National Hurdle Race and Great Northern Steeplechase, at 20 to 1. (Per Press Association.) Sydney, June 1. The tit-bits of tho yearling sales were three colts by Carbine. I. Foulsham paid 375 guineas for the Carbine — Needle colt, while the Carbine Sylvia and Carbine -Hero colts fell to I. Musgrove and Col. Campbell for 275 and 220 guineas respectively. London, June 2. Derby betting — 11 to 8 on Transquin.
