(Per Press Association.) Sydney, May 22. A deputation from the licensed victuallers asked the Premier to appoint a Royal Commission to inquire into the liquor traffic prior to proceeding with the local j Option Bill Mr Reid replied that, while he believed a commission would resnlt in good, he held out no hope of its being set up, as by doing so it would destroy a promise given to the temperance bodies some months ago* He mentioned that a large majority of the members of the Government favoured local option, he and the Attorney-General being the only opponents of it.
