Colyton Cricket Club Dance.

A promenade concert and dance, under tbo auspices of the Colyton Cricket Club, was held in the Colyton Hall last evening. There was a large attendance, including visitors from Feilding and Ashurst, and it 'was a success both socially and financially. The concert programme was contributed to as follows :— The song "Waiting," by Miss Stewart, who possesses a very pleasant voice ; Mr' J. Mitchell's clear tenor voice, ;-; was heard to advantage in the songs "Queen of the earth" and "The skin j love"; Miss Shortalt sang "ThemiUeV and the maid " in bey nsnal attra«tive style; Mr F. Pleasanta gave an amusing stump speech ; Mrs W. Howie sang *• Remjember and forget," het rich, raellow voice making this one of the best items of the evening. Mr L. E. Reade's song « Old Brigade," was well received ; the duet, " The" two cousins," by the Misses Shortall ana Stewart, went with a happy swing and was deservedly Applauded; Miss Harper gave the amosing recitation " The, inventor's wife "; and Mr T. Shortall danced a sailor's hornpipe.! The music for the dancing was supplied by Messrs Bimmer (piano), Stewart and Freeman (violins) and was all that could be desired. Mr J. Entwisle made an efficient M.C., and before the conclusion of thb ' dance thanked those ladies and gentlemen (on bohalf of the Cricket Club) whohad ; as^|atcd;^o make the concert and dauce so successful.
