London Markets.
(Per Press Association) London May 18. Frozen meat— Lamb— Prime N.Z. per carcase per lb 4|d. Tallow — Fine mutton, per cwt £1. Good beef, per cwt 17s 9d. Messrs Levin and Co., Limited, have received the following cablegram, dated 16th May, from their agents, Messrs Dalgety and Co., Limited, London : — " The sales closed firm to-day. For tbe bulk of good merino wools prices are 5 per cent, lower, and for medium and inferior merino wools 5 to 10 per cent, lower than the closing rates of last series, the prices of merino generally being on a par with the average rates of the January series. The bulk of the crossbred wools are 5 per cent to 8 per cent lower than the clositg rates of last series. Inferior washed merino locks sell relatively well. Out cf the total net quantity available for sale, some 94,000 bales have been sold for Home consumption, 105,000 bales for the Continent, and 1000 bales for America, leaving 75,000 bales to be carried forward to the next series."
