The Feilding Masonic Lodge will meet on Monday next. Fashionable ladies now have thir cycles painted to match their dress. The Colyton Cricket Club social and dance will be held in the Mangaone Hall tomorrow evening. A finback whale has been stranded at Allday Bay, near Oamaru. It is between 50ft and GOft in length. Every year an average of 44,000 vessels passes in and out. of Liverpool, while the daily average is ]20 vessels. Tbe limelight views include scenes from the various historical parts of tbe Old World, aud also pictures of tbe notorious Kelly gang of Australian busb raugers. Mr E. Witby, tbe Single Tax advocate of Auckland, is expected to arrive in Feilding to-day on a visit to bis son-in-law, Mr T. West. He will probably attend the meeting of the Feilding Debating Society on Tuesday evening next, when the question under discussion will be that of Single Tax, and should be do so will be invited to give bis views on the subject. Some wonderful cures of cancer and tumors are reported from Christcburcb. They have been brought about by a Mr Hullet, a storekeeper, who at one time was himself a sufferer from cancer. When travelling in search of remedial treatment be met an American doctor, who supplied him with a preparation which effected a complete cure. Od bis ! return to this colony Mr Hullet was appointed agent for the preparation, and lias met with great success in treating sufferers. Our Cheltenham correspondent says : — The management of the Cheltenham Public Hall cannot be congratulated on tbe peculiar manner in which tbe Hall is let at different rates to different persons, thereby seriously affecting their revenue. For instance an entertainment is got up for a purely local and highly deserving object, for which tbe promoters have to pay np to the hilt, on the other band a dancing class for speculative purposes is held once a week for some two hours in the afternoon, by a non-resident of the district who gets tbe use of the Hall, with piano, for the large sum of one shilling. On Friday evening next Mr T. Watson will deliver his popular American War lecture in tbe Assembly Rooms. During tbe lecture thrilling scenes and incidents will be described by Mr Watson, who is admittedly one of tbe finest elocutionists in tbe district, and the lecture is well worth listening to. At intervals a strong and well trained choir will render appropriate war and slave songs, the whole forming one of tbe most unique and instructive entertainments given in Feilding. Tbe proceeds will go to the Rev H. M. Murray presentation fund. The Rev F W. Chatterton, aud Mr J. Holloway, of Nelson, are coming to Feilding on Friday next as a deputation from tbe New Zealand Church Mis3ionery Association which is a branch of tbe Chr.rch Missionary Society in England. These two gentlemen are travelling throughout New Zealand with a view to increasing the interest in uiissionery work, and establishing Church Missionery •• Gleaners Unions " in the various centres yisited. A meeting to receive the deputartion will be held in St. John's Sunday school room on Friday - next commencing at 8 p.m. when the Rev F. W. Chatterton will lecture on his recent^rayels in Japan. To-night at Hastie's Hotel a billiard match between Mr Weiss, champion of Australasia, and a well known local player, will take place, the former to concede 600 points in 1000 to his apponent. Play will begin at 8 sharp. A very fall rehearsal of the choruses assisting at Mr Watson's lecture on Friday night was held last evening. We understand the musical part of the programme is of an exceptionally attractive character, and as for the lecture, it has been stated by more than one who has heard it, that nothing liver has been delivered in New Zealand. The following tenders were received last night for the erection of a building for the Church of England, at Colvton : — W. Watts, 1:242 (accepted) ; Ralph Heald, £242— the tie decided by ballot.
