Why Meagher was set Free.
(Per Press Association.) Sydney, May 16. Meagher received an ovation outside the Court from his friends. A point of strong interest in the case was the opportunity afforded for a ruling on the questien of privilege in connection with the speeches of legislators. However, although the question was discussed, the Court held that there was no necessity to go into the point in the present case, the contention of the inadmissibility of the speeches being sufficiently good to quash the conviction.
