H.Z. Grand Lodge of Masons.
(Per Press Association.) Duneoin, April 30. The sixth annual communication of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of New Zealand commenced this afternoon. There was a lar<>e of brethren from all parts of the colony. Brp. W. M. Nicoll, Grandmaster, presided- After the Lodge had been duly opened Bro.- H. J. Williams moved, That this Grand Lodge expresses its deep sensation at the loss sustained by free masonry by the death of Bro. Gillon, P.G.M., and its sincere and heartfelt sympathy be forwarded to his family. Bro. "H. Thomson seconded the motion , 'which was agreed to in silence. The , report of the Board of Benevolence said the maximum amount at disposal, £20, had been voted for the Brnnner disaster. The Board of General Purposes in their report stated the lodges generally were "' in a prosperous state. Two new lodges had been opened during the year, which increased the number on the rolls to 105. It was resolved to appropriate £50 to providing a headstone and railing to the grave of the late Bro. E.T.Gillon. P.M. Bro. William Barron was elected Grand- . master.
