The Late Sir Henry Parkes.
■o- ■ — Sydney, April 27. The only persons with Sir Henry Parkes at the time of his death were his wife and the Misses Parkes At midnight a change for the worse set in and the heart weakened. Restoratives were applied, and the venerable statesman rallied, but it was only temporary, and he gradually sank to a peaceful end. Towards the last he was unable to speak. He recognised his wife, but none of the others at the bedside. The death, though not nnexpected, bas created a profound impression in the city. In accordance with the expressed wisb of himself and family Sir Henry Parkes will be buried privately at Fantion Bridge, Blue Mountain, beside bis first wife (MissC. Varney.) Tne funeral takes place on Wednesday. London, April 27. ■ The Times says Sir Henry Parkes was the most striking figure in public life in Australasia, and helped in no small degree to impress the English character on the community. This Day. Some years ago £9000 were subscribed by the public of which Sir Henry Parkes received the interest. The amount will now be devided according to the terms of the trust between the children of the first marriage, consequently the children of the second marriage and the present Lady Parkes are left unprovided for. The eldest of the former is twelve and the youngest three.
