The Bankruptcy Law.
(Per Press Association) DVNE»IN, March 27. At the quarterly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce it was resolved, in connection with the proposal to advertise the colony, to bring under notice of the Government the desirableness of taking steps to disseminate useful information regarding the colony throughout Great Britain. It was also resolved, " That the Chamber, while endorsing the principle laid down by its Committee, viz., that landlords! claims should have no preference oyer those of other creditors, and that the Bankruptcy Act should be amended accordingly, in deference to existing interests, resolve that the Bankruptcy Act should be amended to preclude landlords from having apy preferential claim for rent other than that due for one month preceding act of bankruptcy ; should* cancel existing leases to preclude the lesser from ranking on an psta^e for an expired value of tli£ least except for a period not exceeding two years; that any amendment in this direction should not have any reference $q pasting contracts j and that eppy of this resolution be |orward,ed tp the Minister of Justice and other Chambers Qf Ppmmerge throughout the colony."
