Birmingham Notes.

[FROM OUR OWN COfiEESPONDENT.j An accident happened here yesterday which nearly had a fatal termination. Mr Southey was carting metal ou the Oroua Valley road, and, while sitting on the shaft, let the reins fall. In leaning forward to pick tbem up he overbalanced and fell to the ground, tbe wheel passing over his chest, and grazing his head badly. Dr Mussen attended the sufferer. Some idea of Southey's condition may be formed when it is recollected that there was a yard of metal in his dray.
