The Employment of Chinese.

Dunemn, March 23. J. White, acting-attorney for the Round Hill Sluicing Co., has telegraphed to the Premier that in his speech at Hokitika he was in error re the employment of Chinamen. Sir R. Stout was only one of the attorneys. He never acts, and knows nothine about the management, which Mr White alone controls. Two Chinaman were employed by late manager against Mr White's desire, but they cleared out in March, 1895. The present manager has instructions not to employ them under any circumstances. The company employ about eighty Europeans. The last pay sheet was £550.
