FEILDING POLO CLUB.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — As I have been suspected and also accused of being " Back Stroke " of the New Zealand Mail, allow me in all fairness to take up the cudgels against " A Looker-on and a Player," who give airs to their unbounded enthusiasm and disgustingly bad grarqmar in your issue of Monday, the 9th instant. I think the most lukewarm supporter of the Polo Olub could have said more in the way of true praise. Their perfervid remark as to the progress made by the Polo Club and " the position Feilding is expected to take in the Junior Cup this year " is premature. Nevertheless I must admit that since they have said so I shall look forward with some anxiety to the arrival of the Junior Cup in Feilding. With regard to the particularly familiar manner in which they attempt to reprove "Back Stroke " of the New Zealand Mail, allow me to say that I think " Back Strode " wilj laugh, at their, qovice style and bad grammar, I have, forwarded a copy of your late issue to him,' and I anticipate some fun. As to the accusation of a " dog in the manger style " attributed to his plain speaking, I quote the following: " lc touches him not— -Let the galled jade wince," though I think " A Looker on and a Player " won't know of the quotation. And if their tip with reference to " shutting up " is as valuable as their very palpable tip for the Junior Cup, well, I don't think •• Back Stroke " will take it. I am, etc., F. DA. C. DeLiisle.
