The following are the traffic returns foA* the Napier-Tarauaki section for the -feur weeks ended February tst, 18&.6, a.nd iox the corresponding period in'l69s;—
£17,953 16 1 £17,926 6 6 In wool there was an increase of &&Q tons, and in merchandise of 100 tons, i*a6 .in timber and firewood there was a defi<&ejicy of about 2000 tons. Grain showed a s'iig&t.increase, 60 tons. The revenue to tiie date mentioned for the North Island was £353,255 3s Pd, South Island £608,647 12s Id, makiag a grand total of £961,902 15s lOd. ' The total revenue tor the correspond-
ing period last year was £946,910 9s lid. This shows an increase in both Islands. The Napier-Taranaki section in the North Island heads the list with £167,012 10s 6d, and the HurunuiBluff. section in the South Island with £542,199 6s lid. To equal the returns for last year'tbe Napier- Tai'anaki section has to make up a deficiency of £2500.
