The Lower Gorge Bridge.
A deputation from the Woodvilh Boronch Council waited upon the Pre mier at WoodviHe yesterday in referenc< to the Lower Gorge Bridge. Mr Seddon. in reply, said he thought the time had ar rived when the Government should exer cisc the power given them under the Pub lie Works Act to step in and take over th< control of the bridge. He would consul the Hon. Mr McKenzie when he got bad to Wellington, and bring the subject be fore Cabinet. They would then find how far the law would let them go in exercising the power given them under the Public Works Act to take over the bridge and dc the work. He was willing to admit thai great inconvenience was being felt, and that the matter demanded their fullesl consideration. He would, however, gel the Minister of Lands ac work, with the idea that desperatß diseases needed desperate remedies, and they would force the hand of the Manchester Road Board. — Examiner. ___ _____ _
