_ Q We are iu receipt of a return showing particulars of applications for loans, and how they were dealt with, up to June 30th, 1895. The number of advances applied for on freehold securities was 1345 amounting to £713,159, ou leasehold securities 779 amounting to £155,579, on freehold and lease hold securities combined 32 amounting to £15,915. Total applications, 2,156 £884,453. The loans granted were, on freehold securities 701 amounting to £314,822, leasehold 256 amounting £35,840, freehold and leasehold combined 8 amounting to .£4245. Total number of advances authorised, 965 amounting to £354,907. Applications declined were as follows, on freehold securities 321 amounting to £166,940 ; leasehold, 281 amounting to £55,244 ; freehold and leasehold combined, 15 amounting to £8,940. Total, 617 amounting to £231,1*24. The fees paid by applicants amounted to £2,227 15s 7d, of which sum £2,034 4s lOd was paid to valuers, the average fee to the latter fcsing £1 3s Bd. Ninety nine applications K'fijre sent from the Feilding district, and 139 from Invercargill, these baing the two fcighest on i&e list. The lowest were Lovell's Flat, Gfeborne, Prebbleton, Christchurch, Motu^ipi, Patea, Oamaru, Helensville. Queeaatown, Wanganui, with oneeach. From the classification .recording to electoralfdistricts weiearn Palniecston applied for 56 loans, •mounting tp £26,398, of which 43 were granted, amounting to £15,935. Rangitikei applied &w 92 amounting (to £54,305, of which 69 w«&e granted, amounting to £35,075.
