Pemberton Notes.
[FKOM OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] The Pemberton Rifle Club held their second competition for the President's and Captain's prizes on Saturday last. In the Ist Class a special prize of 10s was given. The following were the annvoa *
put up on tins range. I see we have two coaches now — one running daily in opposition to Mr Daw. This is hardly fair to Mr Daw, who has brought us the mail through all the bad weather. The Beef Creek School is increasiug, the roll number now being 35, and the attendance has reached as high as 33. The building is far too small for the number of children. The plums in this district appear to be a failure. Most of those which I have seen are only half-sized, cracked, and having a quantity of gum coming out of the cracks. Burning bush and logs is the order of the daj r , and consequently the place is enveloped in smoke. Most of the settlers have had good barns, I am glad to say.
