Manawatu Cricket Union.

Q The committee of the Manawatu Cricket Union met in the Manchester Hotel, Feilding, on Saturday evening last. Present — Messrs A. G. Carty (treasurer, in the chair), A. H. Tompkins (secretary), D. Entwisie (Colyton), C. Bo water (Carnarvon), M. Kew (San« don), W. Hedge (Birmingham), J. G. Browne (Pohangina), Benson (Feilding). A protest was lodged by the Pohangina Club against Birmingham, who won the match played at Colyton on December 2lst, on the grounds that during the second innings of the Pohangina team, while two batsmen were at the wickets, the Birmingham team went off the ground to afternoon tea without the consent of the former, thereby losing time.— After a heated discussion the protest was dismissed. The Sandon Club protested against the Carnarvon Club's win on tne Ist February, as they allege the ground (at Campbelltown) was unfit to play on. The protest was entered before the game was commenced. Also, that Carnarvon played a Taranaki rep., who was in the district only two weeks, with their team. The latter protest was dismissed, but the former was upheld, and it was resolved that the match should be played over again, at Feilding, on February 29. With reference to sending a rep. team to Wanganui, it was decided, on the motion of D. Entwisie, seconded by Mr Hedge, That a representative team be sent on March 7th. Messrs D. Entwisie, Bowater, and Levett were appointed a committee to select the team. It was resolved, That the Sandon club pay Colyton 10s 6d, and Palmerston pay Birmingham 10s 6d, the cost of preparing the ground, both of which matches were forfeited to Colyton and Birmingham respectively. It was decided that the final test match between Colyton and Birmingham should be played at Feilding on the 14th March. A cheque for one guinea wa3 received from Mr Lance, and a vote of thanks was passed accordingly. Mr W. A. L. Bailey wrote accepting the position of vice-president.
