The Rabbit Pest.

■■ o • (Per Press Association.) Melbourne, February 7. A doleful story of ravages committed by rabbits is supplied by returns from the Waitehi Malbe Homestead League, which embraces a large portion of the Mallee lands. They show 126 farmers had under crop 29,000 acres, of which 18,000 have been denuded by rabbits. The damage is estimated at ___6,500. What is left is not sufficient to provide seed. It is further stated that unless Government give assistance in the shape of netting, over thirty thousand acres will have to go out of cultivation and the exodus, of farmers which has begun will be general unless the Government step in to assist.
