A Smart Arrest.
(Per Press Association) Dunedin, Feb. 2. Fredrick Home, the defaulting secretary of the Dunedin Finance and Loau Company, who disappeared about five mouths ago, was arrested on Saturday just as he was about to board tbe barque Briar Holme, wool laden for London. The police were on the alert, and having ascertained that a man named Christian Anderson had been booked, but was not on board, Detective O'Connor and Sergeant Geerin went as far as the heads with the barque. Some five miles from port a boat put off from the shore in which Home was a passenger. When the pilot boat put off Detective O'Connor captured his man and brought him to town. His defalcations are said to be over £1000.
