The Deering Pony Binder.

Mr Anderson, of Ofcama, started his Deering pony binder on Thursday in grass which had a thick sole of red clover, with trefoil matted throngh it. The machine went away without a hitch, taking a full 6ft cut without any . trouble. After making a few ronnda the binder opened up in another part of the grass, and went right through with- . out a stoppage. . Mr Anderson waa thoroughly pleased wite its performance and says he has the best machine in New Zealand, and that he never saw a machine to handle grass the way the Deering pony did. The Deering pony is an all-steel binder, with ball and roller bearings, which so reduce the friction as to save a horse in draught, and enables a light machine to cut a heavy crop without any danger of sledging. It has an extention to the elevators, giving all the benefits without the defects of the open rear machine. Its binder is adjustable to such an extent that neat round bundles (tied in the middle) can be made whether the grain is 7ft high or only 12m. — Otago Daily Times of Jan. 25th.
