Feilding Athletic Club.

A meeting of* the Feilding Athletic Club Committee waa held in Mr Sherwill's office last evening. Present — Messrs W. A. L. Bailey (in the chair), H. L. SherwiU, T. H. James, E. H. Fisher, G. Kirton, E. Goodbehere, G. H. Savwell, W. G. Havbittle, J. Scott, H. Worsfold, H. Woolven, R. H. Whisker, P. Thomson, B. Gosling. Correspondence was received from the Manaia Sports Committee with reference fco the protest against Kilpatrick (wbo won tbe mile race at tbe recent Feilding sports) by Urquhart. After a long discussion fche protest was dismissed by 7 to 5. The prosest against H. George, who won the mile bicyle race at the Boxing Day sports, was also dealt with, George being disqualified, and a letter of sympathy was ordered to be sent. In this case the protest was lodged on the ground that George belonged to a club not affiliated to the Cyclists' Union, under whose rules the race in question was ran, and this being fche case he was not qualified to compete. George waa unaware of this rule, as he belonged to a newly -formed club in Taranaki. A deputation consisting of , Messrs Andrew, Jonnsfcon, and Feck, from the Cycling Club, waited on the Committee with reference to enlarging and " banking" the corners of the Oval. After discussion, Messrs Haybittle, Bailey, and Sherwill, were appointed a ground committee to obtain expert opinion and to report at a future meeting. Mr A. R. Allan's resignation as treasurer was accepted with regret, and a vote of thanks accorded to him for past services. Mr W. G. Haybittle was appointed treasurer, in place of Mr Allan. Messrs C. Bray, junr., and R. Jarrett were elected members of the Club. The balance-sheet was read, showing a profit on the recent meeting of £26 18s Sd, and a credit balance in the bank of £7G 2s. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meectiyg. •■•>•*
