Pemberton Notes.

O ' ■ The Beef Creek school picnic was held in one of Mr A. Boshier's paddocks on Friday last. There was a large attendance and the weather being favourable everybody seemed to enjoy themselves. Several prizes were given by Mr Lay for races. The group of picnicers was photographed by Mr Lay, and after three cheers had been given for Mr Boshier the | picnic broke up. The Pemberton Rifle Club held their first competition for this year's prizes. Ist Class were firing for the President's prize £3, and Mr Mcllroy's saddle — six competitions, five of which are to count. Also for Mrs Bryce's bulls eye prize. The following are their scores : —

2nd Class — Firing for Mr Lay's clock (which was won by Mr Frost), and the first competition of six, five of which count for Ist (the Captain's saddle) ; 2nd President's prize of £1. The following are the scores : —
